I recently produced a map for the Fluvanna County Virginia, Economic Development Program.  The primary goal of the map was to showcase the County’s centralized location, ease of access, and proximity to major cities.  When designing an info-graphic, the challenge is making your point in as clear and concise a manner as possible.

I started by creating a base-map of the eastern U.S. and overlaying it with a layer of primary interstates. The distances to major cities was measured to scale and a system of shaded rings were put in place to illustrate distance.

The take-away…   Keep an image’s purpose and goal in mind during development.  Make effective use of your visual imagery to achieve maximum results.
